    Around the world Governments are being challenged as never before with many new and changing issues. Globalisation, economic instability are increasing migration and ethnic diversity in our cities and regions. Longer lifespans are placing greater demands on our social services and increasing the overall cost. At the same time, citizens expectations are rising through the increasingly pervasive nature of the internet in both commercial and social communities.

    How do governments handle these diverse challenges? What can governments do to handle the modern day pressures? 

    Microsoft has been working with governments around the world to address these issues in partnership. Developed through these partnerships, Microsoft has established architecture strategies, and accelerators that meet the ever-changing demands of governments as they embrace technology as a solution. Technologies that allow flexible, cross platform integration and acknowledge the broad variety of access methods of our citizens in technology rich communities. Microsoft will introduce some of these methodologies, and the unique value proposition through the Connected Government Framework, Citizen Service Platform, and online services showing examples of real world implementations.

    Workshop participants will be introduced to:

    • The methods of government interaction, the pressures and challenges faced by governments, and some of the solutions for these challenges,
    • eGovernment implementation projects, and discussion on approaches to eGovernment..
    • Real world examples from our customers, their approaches and challenges
    • Making in real, and the next steps to successful projects.

    Paul Wilson – Industry General Manager – Government, Microsoft Asia Pacific Region
    Paul will:

    • sPresent the drivers affecting governments in the 21st Century with observations from around the world
    • Define what Microsoft has done to respond to the needs of ever changing governments.
    • Consider the relationships of the Connected Government Framework and Citizen Service Platforms as a means of accelerating Government responses to technology based solutions in Governments
